The Australian Insect Molecular Biology Conference (formerly known as "Corowa") will this year again be held in the beautiful Yarra Valley, approximately 75km from the centre of Melbourne. This informal and friendly meeting is being held from Friday the 4th to Sunday the 6th of September 2009.

The venue is the Alpine Ash Retreat, which is surrounded by Mountain Ash forest and wineries and only approximately 1 hour from Melbourne airport. We envisage the lab groups will arrange their own transport from the airport. However if you need assistance please contact us and we'll organize some Melbourne folks to pick you up.

This year we would like to thank our major sponsors Pathtech, Australian suppliers of the 'FLyStuff' range of Drosophila equipment and disposables, for their support.

The opening talk on Friday evening will be given by Assoc Prof. Steve McKechnie from Monash University's School of Biological Sciences. As most of you will know, Steve is a Corowa veteran and in this his final year of teaching before retirement, we have invited him to give an overview of his research on the molecular genetics of adaptation to climatic and thermal stress in Drosophila. Steve's talk will be followed by a mixer. Talks will then run all day Saturday and Sunday morning, concluding around noon on Sunday.
